The Baltic cycleride distance leads accompanying the roads from the island Insel Poel to the small town Rerik and in direction Wismar. There are further possibilities for bicycle tours from 5 to 50 kilometres on field pathes and rarely used country roads.
Ask your host for recommondations and flyers, also in the information service (Rerik, Kirchdorf/Poel, Wismar).
In our region you get the unique possibility to combine a bicycle trip with a boat trip. Use the bicycle ferrie “Salzhaff”, starting in Gollwitz/Insel Poel, passing the protected bird island Langenwerder and several villages, at last reaching Rerik.

The diving base at the camping ground "Seeblick" in Rerik-Meschendorf provides courses and boat dive, dedicated both for profis and beginners.
There is another diving school in Timmendorf / island Insel Poel.
Start for Salzhaff round trips on modern, weatherproof boats inclusive gastronomy from Rerik (about 1.5 hours). Harbour round trips are provided in Wismar, keeping the sea too. Do you want to spend a day on a really big ship, then go to the overseas port in Rostock or Lübeck/Travemünde. There start several lines to Gedser and Trelleborg.
You can hire catamarans, pedalos or sailboats on the camping ground in Pepelow, at the Salzhaff shore in Rerik and on the beach in Timmendorf/Island Poel.

Fishing tours are provided in the harbors of Wismar, Kirchdorf/Insel Poel and Rerik. In Mecklenburg-Vorpommern you can get an Fishing-Authorization for tourists (without the obligatoric examination). Additionally you have to buy a ticket for the waters where you want to go fishing. The necessary information is available by the fishingtour providers.
In Wismar-Müggenburg and in Teßmannsdorf (near the seaside resort Rerik) little sportairports provide sightseeing flights over the region, occasional parachuting too.
The shallow Salzhaff is estimated by surfers as a "stay-district" - good reachable from the parking ground Boiensdorfer Strand (large meadows flanking), reachable from the camping ground Pepelow or at the lagoon shore in Rerik.
Surf schools, hire, sail courses and so on are provided at the camping grounds in Boiensdorf and Pepelow and in Rerik.
You reach the narrow, natural sandy beach of the Salzhaff and Breitling in the villages Groß Strömkendorf, Stove, Boiensdorf (here: parking, toilets, playground, beachvolleyball), Pepelow (on the camping ground) and Tessmannsdorf. Only in Boiensdorf you have free access by car to come closely to the beach. Beach chairs, pedalos and boardwalks only are available on the larger and guarded (during high season) beaches in the seaside resorts Rerik and Insel Poel – reachable in about 10 to 15 minutes by car. The temperature of the water doesn´t come up to your wish? Use the offers of the adventure indoor swimming pool “Wonnemar” in Wismar.
The European distant hike route E 9 leads across our rural coastal region between the Hanseatic City Wismar and the seaside resort Rerik.It is very popular, but sometimes insufficient signposted - take a good Hiking map with you and find your bearings thrugh the villages.
