 | | Lagoon Salzhaff |
In the region Region Salzhaff you find both together. In a guest house under a reed proof (with view onto the Baltic or the Salzhaff, in a small village or at a outlying farm you spend a recreative time.
Generally inner seawaters (Darß-Zingster Boddenkette, Oderhaff) have an explicit lower salt content than the preliminary sea. The salt content of the water of the Salzhaff is equal that of the preliminary sea and is about 12 promille (average of many years). Due to this fact the Salzhaff got its name.
An about nine metres deep groove (between "Kieler Ort" and "Boiensdorfer Werder") provides the necessary continuous change of water with the Baltic sea. At the same time the Salzhaff is supplied with clearwater in only small amounts by the creek Hellbach and some other throngs.
This local environment is the cause of the occurence of a fascinating wildlife and flora.
